Everyone has an image of how the rigid and hidden parts of a sofa are like. But except for professionals of upholstery, this idea is often far removed from reality. Skeleton appeals to this idealization, making the hidden skeleton visible. Actually this design is an exercise of structural nudity where wood is shown as an aesthetic, noble and expressive element.
Skeleton is also a game of opposites, the hard and soft, skin and wood, content and continent. Opposition that is reinforced by the exaggeration of the attributes of each party, the upholstery is very soft and the wood is an oversized sturdiness.
Beyond minimalism, Skeleton makes the idea of “structure” become an element of extreme conceptual purity.
